engine still ran great, 246k miles. I was installing a new clutch & it dropped oil / fuel / coolant in my eyes once to often & I got mad & pulled engine out. rest is history!
I think the parts are $11 a crack + $20 labor. got three cracks on one head. I also got another '94 6.5 that has got compression on the wrong side of a piston & it could have a good head on it. I plan on removing all the trim on that engine & transferring over to a military 6.2 anyway.
has anyone here had the cracks between the valves repaired with the little sleeves that go into the tunnel you will drill out under the cracks? the sleeves have O-rings on each end of them. the local cyl head service swears they work. I have one head (turbo side) that has cracks. thanks

on the older fixed time 855 cube cummins engines the overhead should be run every 50k miles. on engines that have gone much longer without having the overhead run cummins recomends cleaning the injectors 1st before running the overhead. we use a box of flush (little over a gallon) you rig up...
the last set i changed the wires fell into place where they came from so i don't even remember what color they were. let me find my service notes & see if they say anything about it.
