Remote Control Door Lock Receiver

if it's like our trailblazer, I found out that in the front doors the speakers are not normal speakers but subwoofers and the little ones (tweaters) carry the normal sounds. the back speakers are normal but still powered by the amp. one of the subs in the front door is blown and rattles. those in the trailblazer are 2 ohm subs which aren't available aftermarket. only way to get one is through the GM dealer or find a working one in the junk yard or gut the entire system and re-wire it for regular speakers!

One thing I learned about can bus too is when you turn the key to start the engine.... most when you turn to crank it cranks till YOU let go of the key. on a can bus system when you turn to crank and you let go, if the engine hasn't fired up it will continue to crank till it starts or the ECM times out saying it's not gonna start! try that on your 4-runner sometime. just tap the crank and let the key go quick like, see if it continues to crank till it starts!

Center portion of the RPO code sticker is rubbed off, so I do not have all of the RPO codes. If it were Bose, it would be advertised all over the truck.

No not really. our trailblazer has no labels anywhere. I had a hunch it had it along with XM satellite. ran the RPO codes and confirmed it. you can run the vin on some sites online to get the installed options at well or swing by the GM stealership the parts counter can pull the info off the vin too.

No XM satellite. That came into play about 2001. The middle section of my RPO codes have rubbed off the sticker.
 
On the plug to the Pioneer head unit, I have three wires not used/connected:

Reverse gear input is for a back-up camera, which I do not have installed, nor intend to.

System remote control not used. It came with a remote fob, but I have no intention of using it.

Mute, I assume is for muting stereo when a phone call comes in?
 
GM side Metra plug. L to R 6 wires:
Yellow (missing in pic), Orange (missing in pic), Pink, Grey, Violet/White, Black.

Yellow is Hot in ACCY and Run. It is connected to Yellow at the Pioneer (P) harness plug which is power regardless of ignition position.

Orange is hot at all times. It is connected to Red at P plug which is for electric terminal controlled by switch.

Pink is for ? and not connected. Metra plug has a blue wire in that position, both sides and says it’s for a power antenna, which I don’t have. So pink is not connected on the GM body side.

Grey is for ? It is connected to Orange/White at the GM side Metra Plug, but the Pioneer side Metra has an empty pin. Only grey I can find in the manual goes to LF Speaker. Maybe I’ve called the color wrong. Wish the f’n manual would should wire colors and function to their pin position.

Purple/white is show as hot at all times coming from headlight switch/dimmer. Metra plugs, both sides, have an Orange wire in that position. I have it connected to Orange/White at the P plug which is for lighting switch terminal.

Black is ground. It is connect to black through the Metra plugs to black at P plug which is also ground.

The next 4 L to R are speaker wires.

Light green is + for RF speaker; Dark Green is - for RF speaker. Connected to Grey and Grey/Black stripe through Metra plugs to Grey and Grey/Black stripe at P Plug which is for +/- at RF speaker respectively.

Same pattern is repeated for the next two Tan and Dark Grey speaker wires for LF Speaker.

Looking Pioneer instructions, it says the unconnected Blue/White is to be connected to system control terminal of the power amp. As noted this wire has a tag saying it’s for “System Remote Control”. Does this go to the Grey to Orange/White to unpinned at the P side Metra plug? I think this is my mystery. I need a lemonade as I’m tired of this crap.

On the bottom of the GM side Metra plug I have a Green and Green/White pair of wires which are not connected. Manual suggests the Dark Green/White is for Transfer case control module with Electric shift. WTF is it doing in a plug for the old stereo? Again a diagram showing wire colors to pin position on the plug and their function would be so much more coherent.

Shown in pic is the back of the transfer case switch which has two plugs. What is the third large unused plug for? I’m putting this POS back together for the day so I can run to the market and do an oil change on it.

That blue wire marked system remote is the one that sends power to turn on the amp. I will see if I can find the schematic for your burb, it should show the wire colors as well.

I have the GM manual and have been using it.
 
Front row, 4th wire/pin from the left, tell me what that wire goes to and does. I can’t find it in the shop manual and I can’t really tell the color. Tan? Grey?

C1 grey should be the left front speaker (-) there is also a grey wire on C1 for dimming for when you turn on your headlights.
