What! ?!?!!...What's that you say???
NEVER thought I'd hear that from you of all people...
A runaround farm truck that multiple people will drive, probably best to get an auto. Company fleet truck that a new hired guy, a customer, basically anyone and his brother might get in, need something universal that you are not attached to that you can turn them loose and not worry.
In my case where I am the only driver, better get the superior choice in gear selection, aka a manual transmission!
Don't worry, I am still very anti-auto and pro-manual trans, but occasionally there is an application where an auto does make sense, and a runaround truck is just that. For a full blown field truck that you might be trying to get unstuck solo, a manual truck you can lock in 4 low and granny first, turn it loose, go hop in the swather, combine, etc. and try to get out, can only do that with a manual. In fact that is my new search item for the next service truck out in Idaho, looking for a 92-93 K3500 SRW ECLB 6.5L 5spd 4wd.
There is definitely a place for everything, where I differ from most is my list of places where an auto is superior is a much, much shorter list than everyone else's.
Plus, its easy to be an auto fan when you have an allison 1000.....

lol! try having a 4 speed slop box behind a ford or dodge....
