On the fuel tank sock, what weve found works best is to have a bare pickup tube in the tank, go out to a prefilter, then through a lift pump to a post filter, then to the injector pump. Some people will just do tank-liftpump-2 filters-injector pump for the ease of install, less work for the lift pump, but at risk for debris to affect the lift pump.
Also the in tank sock on a gasoline equipped truck is more restrictive than the sock for a diesel one. You could swap out the smaller sock for a larger one, but the idea is to never have to drop the tank again to deal with the sock, just allow any debris to make its way to a filter.
