Clocking compressor on some the latest turbo conversions to use CAC

Can't seem to find much info on the popular turbo conversions for clocking the compressor to use CAC will either of the following hit the valve cover, or?

Compressors in question are ATT or HX40

This is a 35/40, but I would think it is basically the same as either of the two you mentioned. It cleared without any issues. Just pointed it straight down and ran the plumbing from there.

ATT can be clocked easy as well. With 18 PSI of boost on the ATT IMO an intercooler really isn't needed. (Some old threads where the intercooler added some, dare I say it, lag to the ATT.) 24 PSI out of the HX40II for sure will benefit. (Same HP/TQ at the wheels on rollers when I tested both turbo's and different boost from each.) Cooling the hot air is an issue with the lack of airflow our body style has, add AC demand and AZ heat... But, don't let me discourage your adventure.

While you are choosing your adventures and unknown what your goals are I recommend the flatten you in the seat BD spool valve on a ATT.... Results and then you can worry about an intercooler... :D
 
I have a CAC already but had not seen any of the two turbos in question clocked on a 6.5 td and thanks to this forum now know they an be clocked and I like the "more air @ less boost."

I've done good w/increase in airflow through the radiator by installing foam around it and support so no air can go around and through any gaps, blocked the area under the burb between front bumper and radiator support where factory skid would be, gasket fender edge of hood front to back using door gasket, vent fenders and use med truck cooling fan clutch w/EVANS waterless coolant, this all improved cooling big time at all speeds.

No more cavitation and zero pressure cap.

I'm guessing 16cm is ok but larger needs the spool valve, or?
 
Spool valves are not 'required' just a different performance avenue that allows you to use lower RPM rather than keeping the engine revved up for the turbo's power band. A spool valve gives you some "small turbo" performance at lower RPM with a large turbo. It is as close to a variable turbo as you can get without a fancy controller and setup. The smaller turbo's run out of airflow the GM turbo being around 2200 RPM. In my experience the backpressure on the HX40II is fairly high above 3000 RPM wanting lots of spring tension to keep the wastegate closed. You feel this as the power tapering off near redline with the HX40II.

The spool valve takes 2 PSI on the ATT going through 2000 RPM from a dig to 10 PSI going through 2000 RPM. A intercooler on top of this setup would be interesting, but, I met my performance goals without it.

Curious as to what you are going for performance, MPG, etc. with the intercooler add on? Are you looking at a air to air or air water air setup? Have you thought about water injection instead?
 
Just more VE and less strain when in mountains and towing etc.

I have a ducted air to air cac between the chassis rails, the reason for ducting is two fold first is to get only the air needed to the CAC core and second to block area behind CAC that allows high pressure air to be forced up behind the radiator shroud stalling air flow through radiator at speed. I have high pressure water injection which I haven't used much because of the need for lots of distilled water.

I plan a Dodge Ram Cummins CAC w/1k psi fogger and Dodge Cummins with radiator in the near future have all the parts but debating where to put aux coolers after the install, or maybe a NV4500 instead of my 4l80e.
