I know what you're thinking - what do those things have in common. Nothing - except that when I originally reported the problems when I first bought my truck, the advice was given to me to take it to a chevy dealer and have them "flash my computer"(?) to reset(?) my cd player, or check something that has to do with my idle. (Maybe I should've gone back to my original post and caught myself back up.) The reason I didn't do it at the time was because the hourly charge was a minimum of $105/hr in the oil rush of North Dakota.

Now that I'm back, I'm considering on doing it, BUT! I have a programmed ECM by ridgerunnerdieselperformance (it was on sale). If I take it in, do I have to worry about the techs ruining what RidgeRunner programmed?

(I hope I made sense here...)

I don't know much about what the Dealer would do to the ECU, but I will say there is a very good chance they would overwrite the entire thing with a New / Updated OS compared to the one that is in there in an attempt to fix the problem.

I know tony locks his tunes, but I don't know if a locked LLY ECM can be overwritten or not. I have been told a locked LB7 ECM cannot be flashed by GM, but not sure on an LLY. I would call Tony and ask him because if anybody knows it would be him. Personally I would tell the dealer do not flash it, and if you do you now owe me a NEW ECM flashed back to what you had.

And don't just tell them not to Flash it, get it in Writing and leave with a Copy of it in writing when you drop the Truck off.

If the rough idle = surging replace the FPR on the back of the CP3 injection pump. As outlined here. If that doesn't take care of it then you can go by the dealer or injection shop and have the injectors tested for balance and return rates. Yes there is a software update for rough idle. Yes, your tuner should have put that on for you.

Bad injectors or the FPR can both cause an idle surge. The FPR is very common and as posted before is a part you usually get results for throwing it at the truck.

CD player mechanism needs to be replaced as a gear cracks, jams the unit, and may get it out of 'time'. A CD jams in the unit and will not eject - may or may not play anymore. You disassemble the radio, remove a small ribbon connector, swap mechanism itself, and back together it goes. The mechanism is listed on ebay all the time, however, here is a company that sells the part. (Ebay links die after time...) The control board ($20.00 extra) is not a bad idea to also get as the connector is easy to tear off.
