Which 4LXXe on a 1995 truck?

Hi all,

I thought the 4L80e is the only trans which can be found on a 1995 K1500 6.5 with the Z71 package. A mechanic told me that we can meet a 4L60e too :???:

Anybody knows how to get sure what trans is on a 1995 truck, how to identify it? Would the 4L60e interchange with the 4L80e?

Run the Vin thru the code reader it should tell you everything......I'm pretty sure they can be interchanged, but don't quote me on that.

All 6.5's should have a 4L80E, even the naturally aspirated ones. The 6.2 though could have a 4L60E mated to it. The 4L60E will have a rectangular pan whereas the 4L80E wil lbe rounded somewhat in the rear.

Yeah, I doubt it, unless it's some sort of Franken-truck
