Big Blue gets parked... For her buildup

Been a bit under the weather lately, and had to wait last week for new Lug nuts to come in since the old ones bottomed out before actually pushing into the wheels. Got that taken care of yesterday and with a little help, the old girl is finally sitting on all fours again. Also got the frame finished. Took Joey's advice and used Eastwoods "Chassis black", then sprayed on a high gloss black to finish it off and dress it up a little. The frame looks great :D Also got my transfer case modded for twin stick, the cable shift kit rigged up, and started building the brackets that will mount it too the frame. I'm going to try and get a video up later of what the "twin Stick Mod" does to the NP205 and some of its uses. Assuming I don't sound like a 40 year long chain smoker as I have been sounding:(

Back on topic, brakes are done:

Didn't realize it has been so long since I updated this here. Sorry guys, I've been a bit busy. Spent some time down in Georgia with the girlfriend. Then got back and started getting ready for snow season. And anybody on the East coast may or may not know about the blizzard that just hammered Jersey 3 days ago leaving us buried in 2 feet of snow. I really need to stop doing projects during the winter time  On top of all of this I got accepted the the Diesel and Industrial Program at UTI out in Exton, PA. I'm leaving in a little over 2 months and Big Blue is coming with me for the year. As of right now I'm going to modify the buildup(because school wasn't part of the plan lol). Transfer case is bolted up and ready. I have to cut into the floor of the cab and mount my cable shifters. I just have to get all my measurements for the intermediate and rear driveshaft then the driveline will be good. Also have to run the plumbing on the rear for the brakes. At that point I'll put the bed back on. I'm probably going to take the canopy with me and leave the stacks home just because its alot more... economical.

But all this requires peoples equipment to stop breaking and snow to stop falling. Oh well, "When there is no time there is money. When there is time there is no money."

Congrats Jamie! Yep, I plowed 20hrs with my 6.5 during said blizzard. Nice storm indeed.

Sounds like paths of life are being paved. Enjoy the ride friend.

Alrighty now where do I start here... Transfer case is up in the truck and from the look of things it won't be going anywhere unless I want it to. Nice and sturdy. I'm trying to load up pictures here for you guys but the site is gving me trouble. Seems like everything has been running kinda slow lately? Maybe a mod could chip in on whats up with that?

Today was raining so what better to do than get some paperwork and office crap done! Actually more like getting my intermediate driveshaft ordered up. I chose Tom Woods Custom Driveshafts for a variety of reasons. For starters, they are a well respected company in the offroad world. When your building a rock crawler, sled puller, or mud truck; there are two names that come up when it comes to driveshafts. High Angle Driveline (HAD) or Tom Woods. No matter which one you go with, each person comes out with essentially the same response. Top quality customer service, top quality product, great person to deal with, very knowledgeable, and defiantly worth going back too.

I spoke Troy over at Tom Woods. He quickly brought me up to speed on driveshaft 101, filled me in on preventive maintenance procedures to maintain maximum spline and U-joint life, then sent me off feeling confident enough to pull the needed information from my rig to get some numbers. Upon first measurement, I found my 4l80e transmission had a 1350 sized U-joint, while the Divorced Ford Np-205 was running a 1310 on its input shaft. I wasn't very pleased with the idea of having a smaller, less than ample rated U-joint being at the for-front of serious power later on, so with Troy's help i'll be upgrading to a 1350 joint on the transfer case. Conveniently enough, they had all of this in stock, including the straps for the U-joint on the rear of the transmission, which is recommended to be replaced with the U-joint. The driveshaft will be finished up tomorrow and everything shipped out. I should be seeing everything the beginning of next week! Then to run the transfer case though its paces and make sure all is well in there. I'll try and get a video up of mounting system tomorrow. Supposed to be 40 degree's WITHOUT rain :)

So, I had a friend come by and she happened to have her good camera on her. How convenient! Instead of taking pictures of nature or animals, lets take pictures of my truck and all the greasy parts on it  She didn't complain, to much... and with a little effort I got then uploaded here. Today was beautiful weather. Nice 40 degree's outside with no rain or wind. And on that note, 2 new Optima yellow tops fill the empty spots on the battery trays. Fired up Big Blue for the first time in about 2 months. No smoke, no struggle, hell not even much effort. The powermaster starter just sounds cool too. Maybe I'll put a video together tomorrow of her all fired up. Not to mention how awesome it sounds with no exhaust

Sorry I didn't elaborate enough before. That big hunk of steel sitting on the table above is the passenger side mount for the transfer case. Center square section is made of 1/2" steel, and the "arms" I guess you can call them are made of 1/4" angle iron with gussets to keep them sturdy. Speaking of which the transfer case is finally on its own weight now. The mounts are finished and all painted up. The case is full of oil, and I started to cut the shifters into the cab when things started to get dark fast so I called it a night. I'll finish that up tomorrow. Driveshaft shipped out from Tom Woods today as well :) So far so good, it should be in by next week sometime.

Well the next update is all based on when Tom Woods gets me my intermediate drive shaft between the T-case and Transmission :) Which, according to them, should be sometime early this week! And if the weather behaves, I'm thinking I'll have power to my T-case by the end of the week.

:Justwait2:mahahahahaha

I apologize for the image size. The image uploader on the site is still not working for me so I had to use photobucket. The new driveshaft is top notch and meets all my specs perfectly. Now if this rain will go away I can get this thing installed :D Times to put some power through the T-case and make sure all is well.
