My starter solonoid just quit on me one day at my buddies house. It would just click but wouldnt turn over. I got it going somehow and drove it home. I put a brand new solonoid in the next day.

Now every once in a while when I go to start it the solonid will just click but if you let go of the key and turn it on again it usually will turn over.

I dont want it to leave me hanging again so what could cause this to happen. The solonid does click every time when you turn it to crank so i dont think it is ignition problems.

It could be a corroded + cable going to the starter, it may have full volts but doesn't supply the amps.

It does crank fine when it turns over. The cable goinig to the starter from the battery is diffenetly good and im pretty sure the one of the solonoid is good to. It looked good when i had the starter off.

Autozone & others normally test for free, that said this past weekend starter on my son's truck tested fine, but solenoid would rapidly click as if contacts in it were going, it was a Dura-last gold so lifetime warranty installed in 2007, I made them replace it as warranty, and that fixed the problem jiffy-quick.

starter itself could have a dead spot, or you only spent 20 bucks on an ebay solenoid

It wouldnt turn over at all anymore before i replaced the solonoid. I bought it of a guy who rebuilds starters its a uni-point solonoid so not ebay.

I did buy the starter off ebay but its been good so far until the solonoid went. It hasn't just clicked for a few days now. truck must be in a good mood.
