will a little brillo help?

Maybe I can do a little metal against metal cause it seems to be scraping away a little bit more each time I try to get it in...putting the new outlet engine oil cooler line back in.

I would not. It should be clean and smooth. Scratches from brillo will want to drag and pull on the seal. Usually not a good ideal.

Might want to take the fitting out of the block and see how its fitting together. I can't remember but am guessing its an O ring maybe that has come out of the groove? I think I have an old block fittings let me look what might be a problem.

There is nothing to bottom out but the taper of the line to the cone in the fitting. There is an Oring but it should not hit the taper.

If the line is going in past the o ring sounds like there is a missed tolerance. Might try degreasing the fitting to make sure there is no grime in there. This is the fitting off my '97.

Uhhhh crap I probably misunderstood. Are you going to brillo the fitting or the aluminum(?) line. Yeah, I would degrease and Brillo the cone part of the fitting in the block it may have some crud built up. I would not Brillo the line. Wipe it out good then wet it with a little motor oil to lube the O-ring and wet the end of the line too.

Rule of thumb is usually lube a seal or Oring with the thing its sealing ie motor oil here would be good.
