My friend has a 03 lb7, he started it this morning and plowed the drive, later in the afternoon he went out and it won't start. Batteries are six years old so I told him I would think about new ones and check to see if you lost prime. The temperature is about 29 deg F so we don't suspect gelling. The engine turns over but does not fire. Should I have him check some thing else? He lives 40 miles from me so we are doing this over the phone for now, any help is greatly appreciated.

We had an 02 L7 for a little while, the seals were going out in the fuel filter head/primer. Sometimes after sitting it would leak enough air in to keep it from starting. Without cracking the bleeder I would push the primer down about 3-5 times and it'd start after that.

Throw some Power Service Diesel 911 in the fuel, and run it as dry as possible, then buy from a different station, preferably a truck stop or heavily truck trafficked place, that has a lot of turnover in fuel.
