OK, latest update. I got called and told not to come down, mechanic thought he had it figured it out. So I didnt go, but the guy didnt figure it out. My friend went on a business trip, his wife calls the shop and says look, if you cant fix it or dont want to figure it out, just tell me. So he tells her he cant fix it and she gets it towed to the stealer. Friend gets home and the dealer calls him and says they figured it out, he needs a new fuel solenoid driver and it's around $800. So I told him an FSD is the same as a PMD, and he just changed it 10 miles ago. So he calls them up and blasts them about their diagnosis, and at my suggestion asks them to remove the extension harness and try the PMD on it's original harness. Bingo, fired right up. Extension harness has a broken wire in it. I have again issued strict orders to obtain a good harness and cooler and mount the thing once and for all.
They found the belt /pulley noise was the vacuum pump is seized, so he had them replace it at $400. Wish I could have stopped him in time, a turbo master and 99.5 belt would have been a lot cheaper and a lot better performance, but oh well, it's fixed and he's finally happy. How the f did the other garage replace the main crank pulley without noticing the vacuum pump was seized?
Thanks for all the words of advice guys, it's appreciated.
