Transmission Filter Part Number

My transmission pan is getting a little leaky. I want to drop the pan and replace the filter and gasket. When looking for a part number there appears to be two part numbers. One for a shallow Pan and one for a Deep Pan.

How can I tell if I have a deep or shallow pan?
Is there a particular brand that is preferred?

1996 Suburban K2500
6.5L Diesel
4l80E Transmission
