This might be a dumb question, but could I make hydraulic hoses to go from dad's John Deere 2040 Aux to hook into a wood splitter?

Dad's woodsplitter used to have a 6.5 hp motor. Now it has a 5 or 5.5 hp motor and he complains of it being hard to start and lacking power.

Would this be an option?

If so, could any tractor with aux hydraulics pull this off?

Might also look into driving the splitter's hydraulic pump from the PTO as a substitute for the ~5hp motor. Although, unless you already have a spare shaft, it might prove cheaper to get another 6.5 hp motor than another shaft.

It can be run from the tractors hydraulic system, if there is a lever that feeds the quick coupler, engage that lever then use the controls on the splitter for functions. Might even set up the splitter with a three point mounting system and make it mighty mobile without the use of a motorized extra wehicle.
