Tempted to get a 07

I'm looking at a 07 with 212,000 miles, for $6500. It had a tree fall on the cab so it would take a lot of work, at best, to get it right. Might take some money to for a new cab, at worst. How much would one of these be worth as scrap/parts? In other words how much of a chance would I have of talking the price down even more?

Also does anyone with auto body experience have any words of wisdom on fixing a cab that has the rear left corner pushed down 6-8 inches and the rear post bent in and forward? Doable? Foolish to even think about it?

A tree fell on my mom's neon straight down the center we cut it off at all 4 corners and welded on a new roof. Quite a bit of work but doable. New cab means reconstruct title

Is it hard to get a reconstruct title? Also someone told me since it would come with a salvage title now that I might not be able to get insurance on it. Is that true? I assume I would be able to get liability to be legal to drive just not full coverage.

It is a stupid way they do it. Theoretically, fixing the cab would be more dangerous in a future wreck because the structure has been weakened, but a new cab is still stronger.

And its not like removing and reinstalling the cab is a horrible thing to do for safety, its done all the time on new trucks for major repairs.

Being a "total" is more an economic question anymore. It used to be for the safety of the drivers.
