I looked on the site and can not figure exactly what makes a stage 4 better than a stage 3. The only diff in the pics looks to be that the 4 has some extra gaskets. What are these and what exactly are they for that makes the 4 so much better than the 3. I do not plan to race or pull the truck, just need it to hold a extra 100 horses for play and pull my camper reliably. I really need to order the parts asap, probably today, so give me some feedback guy's.

get the three kit. it will hold more than enough. call mike l and he will set you up nicely. he is very knowledgeable. inglewood trans in cali

The Stage IV is not that much more expensive, and you might as well do as much as you can while you are in there. I have never heard of a guy comment that he wishes that he had gone with a weaker transmission after a build.

Very good point. Plus, if you ever wanna upgrade your truck, the trans will be able to handle it. Buy it once and forget about it, if you got the cash.

I appreciate all of the feedback. I was already leaning toward the 4 I just need to know the difference inbetween the 2. I am doing this myself and just changing the clutches as per the 3 seems straight forward enough. The 4 seems to have some extra parts and I am wondering if it is worth paying for the parts if I am not willing to go that deep into the build.

I paid to have mine done, and you need to know what you are doing with the Stage IV. Getting the pistons right can be a challenge from what I understand. I had a supposed "expert" do mine, and it still has an occasional rough 3-4 shift at WOT.

I have run a Stage III for almost 4 years with no problems.

I had it pulled last September-2007 for a TC swap and a look and all was well.

I had the C3's changed out as they were showing a tiny amount of wear.

If you run even 500-550 RWHP a SC-III is fine, but if you have the extra $$$$ just go for the SC-IV.
