Slowly for a few turns, but metal on metal with no lube is never good. You should use a "distributor" style device to pre-oil the engine anyway. Ask some local shops if they have one they would loan you.

This was the method given to me by the guy that built the engine. He wants me to double check the piston to valve clearance as it is much tighter than stock.
