spin ons

IMO I would not go with anything different that the Allison spin on filter. I have read many times that others are not made the same and don't perform as well. Every time I have read this Mike L. is in the conversation and I will trust that. I have 80k flawless miles on the clock right now with a new spin on every 10K. For the money I am sticking to this schedule. Again just my .02

I couldn't agree more on staying with the Allison brand filter. You can get it through a "find a dealer" feature in the Allison web site or support one of our vendors Greg at Lubrication Specialist.

ok thans guys, I agree, the guy that bought my LLY asked me and I wasnt sure about Wix filters, he said the tranny was slipping every now and then and was wondering if a spin on change would help. The truck only has about 30k miles on it and the juice never ran over level three, so Im not sure what to tell him.

do some searching on the topic. The Allisons on '05 and older have potential issues with Dex VI. GM says it's fine, but there are a couple articles with concerns over compatibility with a couple seals.

I found for me it was cheapest to get some Torque Drive from Wrecker. I'm sure there's a lot of pre '05 running around using Dex VI without problems, but a seal going bad isn't going to be an instant problem and I didn't want to risk having to deal with it 10 years from now.
