Anybody with motorhomes particularly in the the northeast see rates go nuts ? Last year from State Farm my motorhome was about 300$ for the year. The renewal came in at 850. That's for a 1970 Dodge with no collision. I pay less for my Wifes Pilot with Collision. So I figure ok State Farms a crook. I had gotten a quote last year from AIG for about 40$ less but had at the time decided to stay with state farm. Well I just got off the phone with AIG. 1097 for the year for just liablity. Anybody know what the heck is gong on ? That is insane for a motor home. In all the years I have owned it I have never paid more that 300$ a year for insurance. I have no tickets or accidents and good credit. I used to keep it on the road year round. PLates are comin off tommorow.

I've been with Progressive for a few years now, seems to be a good, run of the mill ins co. Rates have been steady for a few years, I'll probably shop it next year to see what else is out there, though.

They are on my list of Ins companies to call tommorow. I just don't get how it went from less than 300 to over 850. I mean I know nothing is getting cheaper but that is insane. RV's were always cheap because they barely get any mileage on them.

I don't know....a 1970 Dodge was on the top 10 most stolen list last year, right behind the Ford Pinto and Pontiac Fiero. :wtf: :biggrinjester:

That quote was without theft..The Pinto I could understand
dink(sound of shopping cart rolling into back bumper).....BOOM!!!

Did you ever ask them WHY such a steep rate increase for only PL/PD coverage on a 28 year old motorhome? I could maybe see it if you were getting full coverage with collision and comprehensive, since parts would be harder to get, but for PL/PD - that is totally insane. Especially since you have a good driving record.

Geico RV Insurance=260$ for the year.
Guess where I'm goin...
Good for you!

This country is being run by insurance companies, banks and lawyers. No wonder we are in this mess. :mad5:
