2007 Classic, 4x4 running 265's. Noticed a rubbing noise (like something rubbing against the brake dust shield) when making a right turn only. I checked the front end, wheel bearings are tight, ball joints seem ok, brakes are good and functioning properly and dust shield isn't tweaked or bent in any way. Nothing else is shiny to indicate where the rub is happening, I just lubed the front end , that didn't help. Tire pressure is equal, tires have good tread and even wear. Again, only happens during a right turn and braking does not make the noise stop, the rubbing sounds decreases as wheel speed decreases. Could it be the CV joints? Boots are in tact, no tears.... 104,000 miles

HELP !!! PLEEEZE !

Thanks

John

Could be a rock or stick or the fender liner lost a push pin or 2. Did you pull one o

Thanks Mike, good to be back around these parts, been too long ! Yeah I pulled both front wheels, nothing to see out of the ordinary..I did notice a push pin missing at the middle bottom , doesn't come anywhere close to hitting there, especially during a right turn... I'm really really lost on this one.

Well if you think it's a dust shield rubbing, if it sounds like a dust shield rubbing, it probably is a dust shield rubbing ! :hammer: I did just about everything else a person could do, but I didn't tweak the shield that was closest to the origin of the noise.. So I roll into my mechanics garage and explain the whole thing, he says lets got for a ride, he hears it on the first turn, says, sounds like a dust shield rubbing.. Thats what I thought ! Back to the garage, jack it up, rolls under with a large screwdriver, tweak, tweak, says take it for a ride. VIOLA, FIXED ! Man what a dope I am..:mad2: :eek:ut: :aargh4:

NO, I wish he was, but he has moved on from wrenching as his main source of income, he's a landscaper now, owns his own business. I selfishly wish he was still in the "biz" , but I think he needed a break??

I do converse with him via social media , so I will pass along your wishes Mike..
