RP rumors?!?

I got it in mine and my stepdads... Didnt pay for it though, business did.

I don't know about use in a hard working diesel, but Royal Purple has a good reputation in drag racing and other forms of racing. Maybe it's just good PR work......

Seems I read somewhere that though they lead you to believe their products are 100% synthetic they really aren't. Either way it's too expensive for me.

Here's straight from their FAQ:

If Royal Purple street products are not 100% synthetic, why are they priced similar to a full synthetic?

The Synerlec technology provides the best protection and performance increases available, however, it is very expensive. We have blended our street oils to exceed the performance characteristics of any other blended or "Full" synthetic. If having a full synthetic is important, we have our racing line which can be considered a "Full" synthetic.

sorry i wasn't clear, i did mean Royal Purple

I was mainly wondering about the Gear oils being synthetic, as i will stick to regular engine oil.

Who does make full synthetics? Amsoil is 100% synthetic, right?

Well, I think i'll keep with the RP in my 1/2 ton, but after a visit to the mobil 1 site, I am kinda leaning toward them. Nothing like a super rich oil company to have the $ necessary to make the best synthetic oil! ( I hope!:D)

Wrong way of thinking.

To judge the worth of an oil look how it performs within an engine. Go over to Bob is the Oil Guy and check out the Used Oil Analysis section to see how oils perform.
