Need to replace my rear main oil seal. It will be my first time for such a job on this vehicle ('99 6.5 turbo diesel Chevy 3500). Can anybody point me to a start to finish procedure? Video would be great. I looked around here, but didn't see anything.

Replacing rear main oil seal

Likely the easiest is to remove the rear drive shaft and the shaft to the front diff. if it is 4x4. 6 bolts on the lower Bell housing as well as the brace between the passenger engine mount and that lower bell housing have to be removed. 6 bolts have to be removed from the flex plate (auto trans) and torque converter. Slide the trans. back, then remove 6 bolts from the flex pate to the crankshaft. Then remove the flex plate.
I have never had to go beyond this, as the rest was a complete rebuild, I suspect a screw would have to be inserted into the seal so it could be pulled out. There is a special install tool recommended for the seal which I have never used either.

Yep. And when the new seal is installed the depth is critical. There is a special install tool for it.
