Got it to start ran a bit good stalled before I could get back in after closing the hood. Won't start. Bleeding fuel but differently than used to. Was hard to start after last filter change. Ideas?

i have to catch myself sometimes. I've been all over it at least twice and then there it is: staring me right in the face. i say a few choice words towards my stupidity and then fix it. it seems to happen to me the more tired i am. it took me four years to trace down one but by then it was too late: damage.

???

Key on Run (not Start) to run the lift pump, open the air bleed atop the FFM until fuel runs out in a steady stream, then close it. It should start and run. If you are still having stalling problems, it is very possible that the tank sock is plugged from sucking all the crap off of the bottom of the tank. Hint: When the red pointer gets near the letter E, put more fuel in! Otherwise, as has been said before, the problem most likely lies with the loose nut behind the steering wheel. Right, @deejaaa ?

That does not work on all model years.

What year vehicle are you working on? Fill out your signature with your vehicle info.

I have been mounting a fused toggle switch under the hood to jumper and run my lift pumps whenever I desire.

Run about 1/2 gallon out of the T drain. Then bleed the filter, Some filters do not bleed out the top as they should. There isn't even a hole for the fuel to go through.

Bottom line, it seems most likely you still have air in the system somewhere, or getting into the system from somewhere. Remember to not burn out your starter trying to get it running. Two minutes rest after 30 seconds of cranking time. Are your magic leak tablets still working? They do fail eventually and always at the worst time and place, like rush hour going up the Grapevine southbound or westbound Ventura Fwy climbing the grade before the Hotel California (Camarillo) exit. Always remember to secure the loose nut behind the steering wheel.

You need to run the LP without using the starter or bumping the key.
There is a way to use the LP relay to jump the LP to run all the time.

Start bleeding as the LP run, put a hose on the bleeder valve like an upside down U, direct the other end into a container.
Open the bleeder and you should see a lot of air.
Keep it open for at least a minute or until the air is out then close it.

The it should be able to start, may be a little chugging but it will even out.

I usually just turn my toggle switch to on or jumper the lift pump on vehicles that are not mine, turn the key to run and let the lift pump run while I run fuel out the T drain and bleed the filter as JMJNET described

I just push the button on my Relay harness from @Burning oil

But, until you get the harness, jumper the fuse with the engine off to bleed it. (fuse in its own harness under the black cover, touch tips to hot stud)

I think Leroy has changed the button to a on/off switch now. Or made that an option. When I'm bleeding or doing other stuff, I don't have a spare hand to hold a button.

Duct tape. The extra hand/finger on a roll!

LOL - but not as fast to shut off if something happens and you are suddenly pumping fuel - but not into a container anymore. LOL

I've actually seen something very similar. It wasn't duct tape, but shutting off the fuel was not as simple as reaching over and turning a switch off. You can make quite a mess by the time you get to the cab and pull the jumper in there. Kind of stinky too.

Use a looong piece of speaker wire from the fuse block, out the door, and around to the engine compartment and twist/untwist the ends to turn the LP on/off!
