Patrick, I recently had the interior apart in a GMT-400 truck and I am reminded of a recurring problem for that series of truck. From 95+ the Hood Release Handle is a notorious pi**-off. There is one bolt and a plastic tab that hold it in. I have seen that bolt hole break out more often than not. I do not know the manuf. process behind your rattlestops but I do not think it should be too much more work to develop something for the Hood Release handle.

For reference this is the entire handle:

If a steel clip could be fabricated that sat down in that recess, and reached up and hooked over 3 of the 4 edges around the bolt hole it should reinforce that darned thing nicely.
