Poor Boy Special 6.5 Refresh

Man I'm jealous, the truck looks just like my '96 6.5 4WD, except shinny paint and a beautiful motor!

Looks good. Nice job!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words.

I hope that flex works out for you, I hate the stuff

I've never been a fan of flex pipe either, but I didn't feel like cutting, and welding the pipe to get the little bit of clearance I needed. I installed some on a bus I worked on a couple years ago, and its still holding with no leeks.

I've been having some erratic shifting from my trans every once in awhile. No slipping, just inconsistent sifts sometimes, as well as the occasional TCC lockup disengage for no reason. 90% of the time, its just as it should be, but its the 10% that has me concerned, so I'm tearing into it tomorrow for some upgrades. Here is what I'm going to be doing.
1. Superior shift correction kit.
2. Replacing all the solenoids, as well as the pressure manifold.
3. Replacing both the internal, and external wiring harness. (You have to replace the external harness when updating pre 94 models).
4. Installing a Magnefine magnetic external inline transmission filter.

I already had the external filter, and solenoid kit, as I had purchased them years ago with intentions of installing them on my G30 as preventative maintenance, but never got around to it.
The shift kit has some optional settings for HD, and towing which I'll be using. If I was after some really firm shifts, I would have used the Transgo HD2, but thats not what I want. I just want to see if I can get rid of the occasional erratic shifts, and maybe firm them up a little while I'm at it. I'll take lots of pics, and hopefully post them tomorrow.

Just a quick update. I finished the work on my trans, and I'm amazed at how well it turned out! It like I got a new transmission. The shifts are much crisper, and precise. No more erratic shifts, and the TCC works perfectly every time. I have no doubt this will add many miles of service to this trans. I'll post a few pics here, but if you want to see the before, and after videos, I started a thread in the trans section. How hard was the tranny to do? No wise cracks here guys, this is a family channel!!

I am a family man, and have 4 kids, so you won't get any of those type of comments from me. The shift kit wasn't very difficult to install, but I would recommend watching some videos on YouTube of the 4L80E's valve body so you have a better idea going into the installation. Go slow, take pictures, and then enjoy the results.

I figured I would update this thread. For those of you that follow the performance section here, you've already seen this. I recently added an HX40WII CKO Turbo to this truck. All I have to say is Wow! I know I'm no where near the performance level of some of the great 6.5 builds here, but I'm still trying to get used to how much power this added. The difference is amazing, but I have to note, that I had to turn up the fuel before really getting the benefit of the extra boost. The installation kit, as well as my boost controller came from raceday. The thread on it is here. http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/showthread.php?43343-Just-Ordered-An-HX40WII

Here are a few pics.
