Ahhh, now I undestand why the P400 block is supposedly stonger and less suspectable to cracking in the webs. Beefy!

Is it possible to buy the bedplate seperately?
Man ,i've been working on that for the last 2 yrs off and on.i need to make an other patern, they could'nt cast the first one i build. That single piece skirt/main cap could make some money if someone has the skills and tools to make things like that and and the custom oil pan to go with it.
Its one of those thing that even if GM didnt do it, why didnt someone else do it sooner? The Government would have picked up the tab to boot!
Whats crazy is looking at the connecting rod angles and its no wonder these things clatter and crack main webs

I tell ye it aint easy.
Wow, that is a piece of art,
You would for best performance want it made out of the same exact material to have as close as possible thermal expansion and mechanical properties as the block so it wouldn't change the any bending stress on the block being that big - long and that much material bolted that tightly to the block. Its ok for shorter smaller pieces to be of appreciably different but that big might cause problems.
Its ok for the heads to be different material but the crank bearings and associated runnout needs to controlled as well as possible.
Sorry, umm, what? Did you say something?
I was a bit distracted by your avatar.....):h
