I am searching all over for good rod bolts for my high rpm 6.5.. I sent a rod bolt and nut to ARP, and they said $1k to make a custom set. I thought A1 Technologies was going to come through for me, but they just decided to go out of business. Does anyone else make custom automotive bolts and studs?

7/16? I was wondering about that, because I am not afraid to drill the rods out. Some people at ARP can be really unhelpful. I asked about 7/16 bbc rod bolts, as well as main studs. About main studs, one guy said flatly 'we don't have anything like that'. So I said what about your Pinto main kit and head kit - aren't they pretty much exactly the size I need for 6.5 mains? "Uh well maybe, but I don't think.. bla bla. A1 Technologies was the only other source to counter the growing arrogance of ARP, and now they are gone.

There is a thread on the diesel place about rod bolts, IIRC, big block chev work with minor machining.

I got a set of arp bbc bolts, 135-6001, off fleabay for cheap. The bolts are 7/16 dia, and the length is about .030 less than stock (not a problem). I am going to profile the rods in the cnc mill, then have my machine shop enlarge the rod and cap holes for the bbc rods.

Burning oil, do you mean you have something like a master chart of part numbers and dimensions?
