I'm excited and feel the need to share with someone...

Just bought (ordered) an 09 Buell XB12Ss woo hoo! The HD dealer had an ugly transluscent red one in stock that they would have made a better deal on, but I had them order the blacked out job I wanted. Had State Farm quote me a new policy with the same coverage as my truck (100/300/100 $500 ded, unstacked)... $589 and change per year

The sales guy tells me it will be 4-5 weeks, so sometime mid-late Sep before it comes in. Can't wait to get back riding again.

Well, bad news... no dealer in the STATE has a black one and they can't get me a black one until April of next year (or so they say). I have checked with pretty much every HD dealer and none of them have a black one, so that's not BS.

Soooooo, they made me a better deal on the funky transluscent red one and threw in a set of Buell saddle bags for free. If all goes according to plan, I should pick it up Sat. I put off going to a race this weekend for the bike now, so this better be worth it.

I've got a can of Krylon, we can make that bike black in 15 minutes. :)

There's actually more black on it than I thought.

Got it tonight in case you didn't guess... that is one smooth, easy to ride bike. Very happy so far.

Very nice looking new bike. Buels are real nice now, and American Made:driving:

Glad it worked out for you....

I have a 2009 CVO FLTRSE3 Road Glide on order, it will be Feb before I can get it in the color I want, I could get the orange in Oct, but that just doesnt do it for me.

some black wheels and a little black on the tank, and you got you a black bike. sweet ride grady. hope you enjoy it. let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks for the comments, everyone.
I'm so happy that I finally got what I wanted... the bike handles excellent, stops better than I would have imagined and is quick but no where near as insanely fast as a liter sportbike. I've ridden it to work (about 45mi round trip) the past two days now, through some pretty hairy rush hour traffic and it ran flawlessly.

Couple things to note- Holy cow does it get hot! The frame, where your leg rests of course, gets too hot to touch with the head pipe running right by it. The cooling fan that sounds like a vacum cleaner blows some seriously hot air right at your legs sitting in traffic. The other thing is the stumble right off idle. If you roll the throttle, it's fine. If you snap it, the bike coughs. Going to have to take it back to the dealer to see if there are any ECM updates to cure that.

I can remember one of the motorcycle magazines talking about that problem, I thought they fixed that before production???? I'd deffinantly take it to the dealer to see what they say.

As for the heat thing, all sport or sport type bikes are like that. :smash:

...annnnnd it's in the shop. :(

It had the stumble off idle from day one, they told me that the TPS probably needed to be reset. I gassed it up this afternoon since I left work about 5 hours early :sifone: There's a valve in the exhaust that is ECM controlled which started cycling on its own, and the CEL came on, bike started running like crap so I made a trip up to the dealer.

They tell me it has 6 codes stored; 2 for the exhaust thing and 4 ECM codes. There's a good chance it needs a new ECM.

I do have to say this HD dealer has gone over and above my expectations... the service writer even gave me a ride home tonight so I didn't have to call for someone to pick me up.

Looks good

The color isn't bad but they could have went silver, chrome or black with the wheels. But it's a good looking bike.

Hopefully your dealer is well equipped to diagnose and repair it. My local HD service department ,well sucks. I'd fix it myself or bring it to my motor builder if I had to have something done. Thankfully I'm just shy of 10K and not ONE hiccup on this bike of mine.

Well actually it runs better than stock. :cornut:

Ride safe and good luck with it!

My local HD dealer has three very good mechanics. The head mechanic is outstanding.

The head mechanic, built my motor at his house, much less than the dealer cost. 32,000 miles on the build, not one hick up

Update for anyone interested...

Bike is still at the HD dealer, they can't figure it out because their software hasn't been updated to include the 2009 models yet. The tech has to correspond with HD tech services over the phone... I guess they're having problems getting the ECM to accept a re-flash. The tech at the dealer seems to think the ECM is fried, but the engineer guy won't let them replace it yet because he wants to keep trying updates first.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come if it needs service in the future.

Has been a problem for awhile hate to say. When the 07's were released guess what they couldn't even sell a bike sitting on the show room floor because they were YET to receive the ECM calibrations! First year fly by wire and I'm sure many changes (updates) in 08 models.

Lots of changes means delays

The saga continues.

They called me to come pick it up yesterday "we even washed it for you". The paperwork says they replaced the exhaust valve actuator and reset codes. Long story short, I ride off and not two miles later the exact same thing happens again-CEL comes on and the damn interactive exhaust valve starts cycling again. I can see the actuator right through the airbox cover moving the cable back and forth. Bike runs like absolute crap, which may be some kind of limp mode. Turned around and rode right back to their door and they are dumbfounded. Needless to say, week 2 of ownership and it has resided at the dealer for a week.

I had a Buell I loved it 2000 Cyclone M2 I will buy another one someday..
