Hi guys, I have a 1998 P30 step van horror story :mad2: I'm trying to make rite  It has a 6.5 non turbo. A short story, bought it:hihi: motor had cracked cylinder, replaced with a drop in Jasper, lasted 2 weeks..crank broke:nonod:. Jasper honored the warrenty:thumbsup:, 42000 mile later a rod decided to escape and bore its self out of the block.:mad2: 2 months out of warrenty:skep:, so now I'm going to install a Teds motor and see how that goes!:agreed: Your site is full of helpful ideas and very happy I ran across it:) Any ideas on this 3rd install will be welcome.. Thanks Mike:hello:

Welcome to The Truck Stop Mike!
I believe you came to the right place for 6.5 advice as well as some friendship while you're at it.

Thanks guys! If I can be any help on the tool end of things just let me know. I'm pretty opened minded when it comes to tools I'm not your tipical BS salesman......Mike

if at all possible, inspect main webbing for cracks, replace balancer if weathered, if 150,000 or more miles and you can replace timing chain.

Thanks for the info I'm getting the motor from Ted's Trucks, I've read a lot about his ex-military engines and they seem to be a good deal. Being this will be the 3rd engine I can't afford to keep blowing them. If i'm doing something wrong let me know, in the last two Jaspers I used Valvoline premium blue full synthetic heavy duty diesel oil 5w-40 with NAPA gold filter and change it every 3000 mile like clockwork. I don't beat the truck at all, it's my lively hood!

Dude, welcome you have come to the right site for info. You might consider becoming a supporting vendor if you offer good deals I bet you can sell the piss out of your tools here. Especaily 6.5 specific tools.
As far as R&R engine Im thinking do the common since stuff like new oil cooler and flush lines or get new ones. Do what deejaaa said too.
BTW: deejaaa welcome to you also, I see your in my neck of the woods.

Thanks on the support vendor info, problem is shipping, you buy from Mac and spend $100 free shipping! Tools are heavy and cost a little to ship. Also I sell at the same price the Mac web site does, I don't want to under cut my fellow distributors. I will help in anyway I can though. Will replace the cooler and lines! Thanks

Welcome!

X2 on cooler being a debris source...

What temp does the engine run at? Do you see the reason the rod came out like a bad bearing, cracked piston, etc? Offhand your truck is a good load for any engine so if something isn't perfect it will show up...

BTW: deejaaa welcome to you also, I see your in my neck of the woods.

Thats a good policy.
I have the coolers and hoses kit for the stock R&R of truck coolers. Not sure what yours is. If you want to measure your hoses I'll see if I can help.

I'm closer to JSC in Clear Lake.
I did not see your member #, you might have welcomed me when I got here!

Didn't really notice anything unusual, the temp was about 180 and the oil psi was about 60 at 2000 rpm. I was just pulling on to the ramp to the interstate with 3/4 throttle and with no notice at all bang! Will open it up soon and I'll let you kow what we find.

welcome to the site! If I may ask, how difficult is it to pull an engine from a p-chassis? does the whole body have to come off? It sounds like are running them fine, and so far Teds has been good to the forum members that have tried them. I would say throw a Fluidampr on the new one, and hope that you will never have to pull it again!
