I have a 2008 Yukon XL

Has Driver/Passenger/Rear Heat/AC controls.

When I first start the car, the A/C seems to work fine.
After some time (maybe 30 to 60 minutes), the fan continues to run, but air stops blowing out of any of the vents.
Even when I switch the controls to manual (vs. automatic mode), the air will not come out of the vents. I can still control the fan speed (I can hear it speed up and slow down) but air will does not come out.
It's as if a door closes, blocking the air.

If I turn the car off for a while, and then start it again, the same thing will happen. Air will come our of the vents for a while, but then stop again. There have been times where after the air stopped coming out of the vents, about an hour or so of driving, the air started flowing again.

Look up underneath the passanger side of the dash with the system off. Check for debris like a piece paper or plastic. Also possible cabin filter plugged.

System is freezing the evaporator to a solid block of ice. Evacuate and recharge the system. If the system was low this will solve it. If the system wasn't low replace the low side cycling switch.

If your system has an expansion valve instead of an orface tube like some 2008's went to it's stuck open. Rear air systems may not have dual expansion valves. Look at where the AC lines go into the dash - if it has a space saucer type hat on a metal block between the lines it is an expansion valve type of system.

Welcome! The guys here can answer any questions you may have.
