To do the IP rite requires a test stand, I've assisted with a couple at a nearby buddies shop rollers-shoe-cam ring-optic sensor- solenoid, timer stepper motor, delivery per cylinder are part of the test program, the fuel solenoid after reassembled gets threaded in/out correct turns then locked down, then a correct calibration resistor gets put into the PMD # 0-9 depending what flow rate calls for.
Several folks have gotten seal kits and freshened them up a little, but they aren't set right by spec probably not enough normally to cause major problems, but every now and a gain something that would have been cycled/tested on the bench bites you in the rear and you wind up with a IP anyway.
So from my experience which can differ from others there are enough guys that do quality remans for not too much money that will also give some warranty if they screwed up too bad, I'd consider going that route if you can't spring for new one. You can save some coins buying from time to time without a PMD use yours if you trust that it is still good.
