For some reason my computer does not see my cd rom drive....even when I put a new disk it it does not see it....any ideas? It is a toshiba satellite L355D

anyone? I've run microsoft security essentials and have come up with nothing

Laptop, correct? Does it have the ability to release a catch and pop the drive out from the bottom? I would sliding the drive out, blowing the connection out with a little compressed air, and reseating the drive to start with.

If that doesn't work ..... I think lap tops are notorious for loosing the cd drive. You can get an external CD drive with USB connectivity.

tried updating the driver?? maybe do a system restore to before you had the problem. That might help determine if it's a software issue or hardware issue
