My center console won't open.

Advice? Don't put so much crap in the center console. :D

Have you tried hitting the sides with an open hand to get the stuff inside to shift while pressing the latch? That has worked for me on overstuffed center consoles and glove boxes.
 
Hopefully you didn't break the latch. Is it hard to press? I've had it where I had to press the latch really hard because it was too full.
 
It just opened on my way home from college yesterday.. I don't know what happened/changed but I wasn't even thinking about it being stuck and it opened right up! I suppose this could have had something to do with it being warmed up from -18 that morning!
 
I have had this on an old 2000 1500 z71. It seemed to only happen when cold or if it wasnt used for a while. turned out to be the latch mechanism needed to be lubed. after that, never another problem (until i sold it).
