My 2 (non) cents
I tried many setups:
A) 3" mandrel DP to 4" mandrel over axle = too loud for the sidewalk... like deafeningly RUDE. oddly the long exhaust got better mileage with a muffler, but much more power without (It was a super 40 FM).
B) 3"MDP to 4" straight ending just beyond cab (EC). cut off under truck = holy crap posi burnouts batman! but god damn annoying.. could not talk in truck on freeway with the windows open..lol and rumbly w/closed
C) 3"MDP to 4" all mandrel to stack in pics = This setup achieves the right volume for engine awareness but in cab quiet when the vent window is closed. When the vent window is open, it's glorious!
Also if you run high boost (turbomaster or w/e) the wastegate is mostly closed.. and the real rumble comes when those longer wavelengths are NOT chopped up by the turbine impeller... so if you dont *open the gates of hell* all the time, and you need the power... I don't think IMHO you will regret NOT having a muffler... especially if you love turbo whistle..
