LMM Air filters

Guys. I did the PPE airbox mod to my new truck the other day and then decided I was going to replace the air filter since i could knock small piles of dust out of it when i tapped it on the ground. I was just going to go with a paper filter from autozone until I found out they are 60 some odd dollars! The K&N is only 70 i think. Anyways that led me into the whole K&N's are horrible debate.

In short my question is what are you LMM guys running in your stock air boxes? Performance/Value considered.

I still cant believe a fram paper air filter cost that much money thats ludacris

Chad, not an LMM driver but the OEM filters are still a good bet for the money. Another filter you may also want to take a look would be the Amsoil filter. http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?code=P610875-EA Get in touch with Ashton I am sure he could help you if needed any thing further.

I was also gonna recommend the Amsoil filter. Those stock ones though are pretty damn hard to beat.

Fram = Spam

And among the worst performing and worst lasting filter out on the market. They've been known to break apart when the motor is under heavy load.

I busted the factory filter under load and miles. The new filters have a "X" to prevent the element from imploding. The factory filter will last 50,000 Miles or more as the recommended change interval on vans. I changed mine at 60,000 as it was falling apart. For surface area you can't do any better than this factory design. I recall they are made by Donaldson.

I doubt yours needs to be changed. If it does go with anything but a Fram. Likely the Fram is a repackage of the OEM maker of this filter - but why take a chance on Fram's s#it quality.

If you go with K&N, those Small Piles of Dust will be In your Engine rather than In the Filter.
