LED trailer marker lights?

My work trailer has the standard Peterson marker lights on it and are suffering from corrosion. You'd think these would be more weather resistant than they are.
I'm thinking of going to LED as these are sealed units. Does anyone have experience with these? Good, bad, ugly?
The units I'm looking at have two bulbs in them. I actually saw them at Walmart (yeah, I know, but they grabbed my interest and have 3" mounting holes like the Petersons).

I dont think you will find that model sealed as you have to remove the cover to get to the mounting screws. What part is corroding on your incandescent? The sockets? LEDs are the way to go though, I have over 100 on my truck

I will say I have run a LED very similar to that and never had any problem...
I am looking Ill see if I come up with anything else that might work :thumbsup:

Yes, what is corroding? The ground mount point or inside the socket?

I switched both my trailers over to all LED...mainly because I was tired of burnt out filaments from bumps...nice look and bright too!

The offending light is corroding inside the socket...the tinning looks all dirty. I got a different one working again by messing with the screw onto the trailer (ground), but the other is inside the fixture. I'm figuring when one has an issue the others are soon to follow.
This trailer was wired using the shell as the ground instead of a separate ground wire, so those screws have to keep snug or they lose their conductivity. I'll need to put something on there to lock those screws down that's conductive. I don't know of such a product - maybe someone knows what would be good to use there?

Crap...a sealed unit would require a nut on the back to mount? That isn't happening - there is plywood lining the inside and it's all racked out. :mad2:

Use something like this (http://www.ryderfleetproducts.com/c...-Electrical-Grease-5oz/erm/product_detail.jsp) on the screw. Smear it on the screw before screwing it in and on the head after words. Thats what I always do.

I am not sure what you mean, what model are you looking at?

Keep the ones you have, Ozzie... On my old trailer, I used the existing wiring to 'pull' a 2-wire through and then hooked it to a different bulb fixture (Actually, as I recall, I went to a wrecker an snipped out about couple-dozen interior fixtures and bulbs) and hot-glued the fixture into the marker light. Put the reflector back on, and you're good to go!

Well I made a trip up to the trailer store, and the original that I had has been replaced by a plastic socket with a push in bulb, so I'll give that a shot for now. I also got a look at some sealed LED units and it looks like they have a base that mounts and then the light snaps onto the base...so maybe later.
