Just changed the wifes 100kmi platinums plugs out and two days later getting codes

one thing to note: I changed out the platinums that came with the tahoe to bosch Iridium...but broke one plug (the rear drivers side) and had to put one the used one that came out of that hole back in until I replaced it today...that may be the low voltage knock sensor code I logged...

I cleared the codes with EFI and none of them returned "yet"
 
yeah...the Tahoe has 104k mi.so I figured I'd change them...the factory platinum's still looked really good.
 
100k plugs. My 2000 Camaro had AC Delco (NGK) Iridium plugs.. That's what went back in at 8 bucks a pop.. 100,000 miles on 'em and really I could have screwed them back in, they looked that good.

Very tiny center electrode made of some serious stuff. Gapping them is very risky. Ya don't just twist and pry a gauge in there.
 
Replace the plug wires - they may have come loose at the metal connectors and are arcing the cables up.
 
I just changed the plugs on my wife's friends 2005 Tahoe.

She used some AC Delco platinum plugs. Her Tahoe had around 126,000 miles on the old plugs.

The hardest plugs to change was the last plug on the passenger side and the front plug on the drivers.

I also changed out the wires. The first wire I took off on the front passenger side came off in chunks.

It started and ran much better when I was done. :thumbsup:

The starter went out a few days later, that was a pain.
 
I NEVER use BOSCH plugs in ANYTHING! Half the time they give me check engine lights with mis fire codes or a poor shifting trans. And don't cheap out on plug wires. The AC DELCO IRIDIOUMS are a great plug, and at 100K miles they will look brand new still. P0332 is a semi common code for the LS engines. The knock sensors do fail from time to time in them, and be EXTRA careful replacing them as most people destry them putting them in. They MUST be torqued properly to avoid damage. The U1000 could be a cause for concern, or it could just be a fluke. Aftermarket radios can sometimes cause this one. It is a databus comms code meaning something on the databus didn't repond or check in I believe. The U1000 along with the 2 HVAC codes lead me to believe your battery may be getting slightly weak or something as teh HVAC controller will lockup the bus with low voltage. Make sure the battery connections are good and tight, and that you din't knock any grounds off when you did the plugs as that could cause all 4 codes if you knocked a ground wire loose on the block.
 
haven't driven the Tahoe much after replacing that final plug and clearing the codes...but so far no codes have returned except the LR tire pressure monitor code...I need to take it back to the Firestone that put on the tires for me...I knew 1 sensor was bad so I bought 2 and they replaced one...they may not have done the relearn/reset properly but it took a month to get that service monitor code so it may be another failure...I have another TPM just in case so if the relearn doesn't do it then we can replace it...
