Since I've owned my F-250 I've had it in the shop to replace O rings twice from leaking oil. The service man told me that there are 5 of them on the top of the motor. Are they easy to replace, the only time it leaks oil is when some one else uses it.....

The F250 has been in production for many many years, if it is a diesel we need to know which one 6.9 IDI 7.3 IDI 7.3 NA 7.3 Powerstroke 6.0 Powerstroke 6.4 powerstroke 6.7 Powerstroke. There are several seals and gaskets in the topside of the motor alone. We are gonna nedd ALOT more info on it....

What do you mean it only leaks when someone else uses it????? Only leaking when someone else has used makes 0 since. Maybe the truck misses you??

The first time it happened, a friend drove my truck with my car trailer with a hot bed on it. When he pulled into my yard there was a trail of oil. I took it to a machanic who works on diesel's and that "o" ring was replaced. He told me it was on the top of the motor. It has happened twice and the second time he said it was a different "0" ring, I haven't looked it up to see if this is true. I bought this truck because of the 7.3 and in 03 was the last year for Ford to make it. With only 49,000 on my truck, it should last a long time. Thank you all for your response.......John

Sounds like a problem maybe with the high pressure oil pump or the high pressure oil crossover hose.

I'm thinkin it has to be the HPOP orings on the oil feed lines.
