jake break?

there are exhuast brakes available for the 6.5 but no true jakes. I've "heard" they're hard on our engines.

Not only is it hard on engines.
Our manual trans can't take for too long. And don't even think about it with a auto.

A true Jake changes valve timing and operation... turns you engine into a compressor. You're talking about an exhaust brake; You can put one on a 6.5, but there are some limitations, as others have mentioned.

was looking at turbo off dodge as upgrade and saw exhaust brake on eBay so was thinking two birds with one stone but sounds like its not worth the risks thanks for the input

with a manual transmission, these things engine brake pretty good by themselves, so I would leave it alone.

I dont think, or at least have never seen, a Jacobs Compression Brake for a B series cummins. IIRC, Jacobs does make a exhaust brake for the b series, but no compression brake.

and not to be an ass, but it is brake, unless you really want to break the engine. :)
