Is this a bad idea?

Last winter I noticed that my truck idled faster when I pulled the coolant temp sensor harness off. It was handy to warm up the truck or to boost the battery on the Clarke skidder we were logging with (3 cyl. 2 cycle Detroit).
Anyway is it a bad idea to put a switch on one of the wires to get an easy high idle setup.
Thanks

I would not do an on/off, I have been thinking of putting a varisistor in or at least a set resistor. remember this affects od and torque lock. for just high idle i would follow mfgguru's post. the other way you can incrementally increase rpm's, but if you forget to set back, tranny damage in long run.
