Is it a Good Price?

In the mid west that would be for sale a long time at $6500. I think $5K is more in line for that year with 213K on the clock. I bought my 1995 in my avatar for $3800 it was originally listed on CL here for $5K & it had 187K on the clock. I tried to get it for $3K...

Any vehicle with over 200K is gonna be needing things, some have already had a majority of repairs completed. IME many of the replacement parts we purchase today last a fraction of the time that the OEM parts did. The after market parts are JUNK and that creates a huge challenge for us folks looking to run our vehicles up to 1/2 million miles or more. IME & IMO replacement parts quality has been declining & is continuing down as time rolls on. I really think the major car manufactures have figured out that if we can't rebuild em, we will be forced to purchase new...unfortunate but that is my theory.

Overpriced. You can fly to AZ and get one for $4000 and drive it back for that $$
 
I would say its overpriced. Thats what I spent on my 95 burb but mine was already imported to Mexico at a cost of around 2700 dollars. Putting alot of money into it depends on what was done by th PO and how dependable you want to make it. Take some time and read up on these trucks. There is alot of info on this site.

Depends on what has been updated & what will need updating...I can NOT give you a straight answer sorry.

The answer will depend on your definition of "alot" that is very subjective.

Look at it this way, you can not buy a "new" diesel suburban any longer. You can purchase an aftermarket one with a Durmax but very pricey.

You can buy a new diesel vehicle 4 door truck or possibly Ford Excursion, not sure about that, but my point is for what amount $40K maybe more?

So if you have to spend $5K for the purchase & add another $1200 yearly for upkeep, do the math.
 
WW is right. If its what you want maybe $4800 tops because you won't have to travle to get it.
 
I was looking at excursions and even a 2000 model year you cant touch the diesel for under 10k. I will not buy the v10 whatsoever. Plus, The 6.0 liter power strokes had problems. So, i don't really want to drop 10-12k on the truck then have to drop another 2-3k to rebuild the motor. What would be the 1st thing you would replace on one of these suburbans? PMD. Anybody have a good General info thread for these beasts?
 
Too much $$$$$$ for the year and miles. No detail[or why] on alleged "rebuild". With that many miles ,it should need rear brakes. They cost $500+ just for the parts. I can't say I care for the wheels either .
 
$500 for rear brakes? Wow. Didnt expect that. I kinda like the wheels. I will call the owner and see if he will give detail on "Rebuild"
 
Yeah, what what "rebuilt ? If the motor and he can prove it well,, around here that truck would fetch that in a heartbeat. 95 is a good year to buy, OBD1. Can do more with electronics.
 
I just talked with him. He is a Foreniger so I couldnt understand everything. He said, He bought it in az last december and it broke down. He had a rebuilt motor put in it and he drove it back to Michigan in April/11. Now, The transmission wont shift ( couldnt understand him ) into either 1st gear or overdrive- He didnt explain very well-Until the "Service engine soon" light comes on after it warms up. He is NOT going to get $6500.00 for this truck. I know its a Vague description but anybody heard of anything like this?
 
Too bad you were not closer, a buddy of mine is selling a 99 burb with 44k on it for 4500$. Needs a HG. Aside from the HG the truck is spotless.
 
I've done quite a few rear brake jobs on my 3/4 and 1 tons. I replace : drums ,shoes, wheel cylinders, springs, all fluid and some times the adjusters. The 1 ton cost even more because of the larger[13x 3 1/2] brakes. Many 3/4 ton suburbans have the larger 13x 3 1/2 brakes.
Defiantly something to ask about when shopping. The load range "E" tires are spendy also.

I bought my '99 with 150K miles on it for $6750 in January 2010. That came with Heath Programmer, ATT Turbo, new lift pump, Bosch Marine HO injectors from Heath, etc. Pretty much trouble free. However, when the front brakes wore out, the job turned into much bigger when I could not get the bearing hubs off. So I ended up rebuilding the front end: new CV axles, used steering knuckles, new rotors, calipers, new A-arm bushings, etc. Fortunately, minimal body rust. Had to redo the A/C system. Also had Heath reprogram the ECM to the ATT, gratis. The truck runs very strong. So yeah, any truck that age is going to need some work. The '95 will need complete cooling upgrade, etc.

$3000 for a rebuilt transmission installed by GM with 100K mile warranty. Price of that truck just dropped to $2500.
