IP interchangeable years

Will an IP out of a 96 work in a 94? I am looking at getting a 96 1500 with a blown engine as a parts truck, and am wondering if the IP would work in my 94 if mine ever goes out. Also does sitting around for several years tend to make them bad? Thanks.

94 was the only year that could have a different IP ,the 5068 iirc. Not all 94s had them mainly just the heavy duty trucks. All other IPs are interchangeable.

94 was the only year that had 2 diffetent ds4 pumps. The 5068 and the 5521 compatible pump(was 5067 in 94). Many trucks that originally had the 5068 pump have been swapped over to the 5521 pump by changing the prom in the ecm. So you have to look and see what you have as there is no other way to know.
