Hey y'all I know its been a while! Living issues and just extremely busy for a while has kept me away. I work a full time job and have a side business and after all that every day I work til 11,12,or1 am every night on the race cars! Building one new from scratch. Anyway I am finally getting the Dually back together again. Due to an idiot employee I lost my 6.2. He dropped a nut and didnt tell me. I found it in 3 pieces on top of number 5 piston!

So I had some 6.5s laying around and decided to throw heads and every thing on the best looking one. I put in fresh bearings but didn't put new rings on because I was told it only had 35k on it. I use a new brand of bearings and wanted to try the ones for our motors so thats why I changed them. Well long story short I couldnt get the 6.5 to build enough compression to start! The rings was shot! So I yanked it back out!

Well as I looked at the 6.2 over in the corner I told myself I said "Self.....if we fix the 6.2 it will all be new and run as great as it did before....HMMM"

So with a new set of rings(LOL), Bearings, gaskets and all the goodies I had around here we built the 6.2! Played with the pre-cups based on knowledge I got from y'all! I got some good injectors and had a race buddy that rebuilds pumps and injectors play with them. A set of rod bolts in redone stock rods. Using the oil pan and pickup from a hummvee or Hummer( which ever one has the huge but angled pan). MY old Ds4 pump which has few miles on it. The same tune I had in anyway. A stainless DP and 4" back pipe that is gonna 45* out the right just before the duals for now.

I was gonna stick with my old cooling system but yesterday I pulled apart a 98 6.5 with all the goodies on it!

And while I was switching the motor again without even getting to run the last one I decided to do my 5-speed conversion while I am at it! Got a LUK clutch and an NV4500 ready.

And for a turbo I am gonna stick with the mystery turbo I have been running! No numbers or any sign of what it is. But it rocks!

Well one race car is sitting ready for friday night and the new car is waiting on metal..so I dropped it all in tonight.

I do have a few questions. The 98 style crossover coolant deal with the dual thermostat...what has to be moved, changed, or cut for it? It looks like it will hit the motor pulling loop that serves as a spacer on the drivers side. I havent tried it yet.

And where can we find the line for the hydro clutch for a 98? Truck is a 95 but the trans and throwout is from a 98 or so. I can make it work if I have that line.

Thanks y'all and I hope to be able to post up videos soon of us pulling the race cars!

I would not switch to the dual thermostat housing, its not any better, constantly returns hot coolant to the engine with no bypass blockoff like on single thermostats. And the dual makes it a lot harder to mess with the IP, and time it. The single gives a better flow balance between heads when using the high output water pumps.

I had an 8.2 Detroit once with dual thermostats and had nothing but trouble so I for sure believe ya there! So just use the water pump and fan?

Is there any other goodies that would be better from the 98 model than my 95?
