Ever since I got my EGR valve replaced under warranty, my Hyperpac wouldnt communicate with my ECM. GM installed the latest cal updates. I contacted my buddy from Hypertech, Darnell, who offered to take it back, reprogram it for the latest updates and return it to me. I received it back 4 days after I sent it to them to update it. I'm pleased with their customer service and support. They went outta their way help me out with this.
So I tuned it yesterday, and made a trip up to meet with a local member to have him sign the oil can. I forgot how much I liked their tunes. Its got a very defined throttle position to where it'll start to shit and get. I definitely drive it harder because the throttle feels different. I'm not sure what it is about the tune but the engine is so much throatier now than before with the Predator. Its got a deeper tone to it that I really like. It also smokes more than Predator does.
I was monitoring the live data that Hyperpac's capable of and I noticed a few things different from my previous northern NY climate.
My fuel temps were hovering at around 115. I dont remember seeing them that high. Outside air temps yesterday were between 75-80. It was 77 when I was monitoring the data. I was also on the highway, cruise set at 75. My air intake temps were around 100 degrees, which I thought was a bit high considering S&B is supposed to cut down on sucking in hot underhood air. If I gave it throttle, those temps sky rocketed to 150 degrees before I got off it. The stock intake did exactly the same, especially with the PPE air box mod. Even at idle, the intake air temps were a solid 20 degrees warmer than outside air temps.
Fuel rail pressure was hovering at around 14,000 and some change PSI at 75 mph.
My trans temp pretty much stuck right between 145-155. I remember driving to work up north, it wouldnt even break 100, with the winter cover on. I've seen 200 in stop and go traffic here so eventually, I'd like to get a Mike L. trans cooler.
Hyperpac also showed my torque converter at 65% lock at 75 mph. I was under the impression that it locks at highway speeds or once in 5th?
32.25" got my speedo right on with 285's. Looks like I'm gonna be running this tune for a while now. Thanks to Darnell once again for excellent support.
