So, im going to get a cummins... *EEK*
(better than the 7.3, easier to upgrade... Too broke for a Dmax)

I was thinking of making a "home made" exhaust. I dont have a pipe bender i could use, so could i just weld it and have it work?

I would put this on there: http://www.dieselperformanceparts.com/viewlarge.cfm/item_id/547

Then from there, i would get some galvanized steel 7" diameter pipe, but cut it up like this *see picture*

Will this work? or will it die?

it will work but after all is done you might just be at the same price. what size do you want? i have to 5" turn outs like you pic if you interested. pm me

my buddy made a stack kit for his 87 cummins about three years back and it was 5" galve pipe to 6" stacks and he spent about $600 if not a little more than that for his kit and i know that there are kits out there that all the work is done for you and they are alot less than that

Mechanically, it will work just fine...but if you are using galvanized pipe, it will look like crap at the welds unless you send out the pieces to get galvanized again...unless you paint them black or something.

6" stainless pipe or tube would be the best material to do what you want to do and look good.

i dont want it to look like polished blah blah blah....

I want it to look like... Terminator style... Yaddameeen? i want a dark pipe. Like blackish, but not painted... Like some diamondplate steel sheets are, except in pipe form..

Except with no shiny diamonds

i've never seen pipe with safety tread on it. its proly out there. if that's what you want, go for it. you'll have the only set out there.

With the price of trucks dropping, there is an '05 4x4 CC LB 3500 103K for $18 over here in utah. And a few more I'm sure.

yea, but thats 2x my budget. Also, im looking for something to go under the emissions laws. So i need a 1997.5 or under.
