I know this has been done. I have read many threads on the subject. I need to know the best information and part numbers. Please advise me if you know of a good site. I thank everyone in advance. Jim
I know many out there are less than thrilled with the performance of there stock brakes, so I figured I would do this thread to post up what stock parts can be easily swapped in to improve the braking performance of our trucks. First things first, make sure your brake system is up to par...

Have you read these threads. There’s some part numbers in there
Very few have done this swap. You must have the hubs that use the drums that slide over the hub, not behind the hub like 2500's and some 3500 srw trucks use(not sure if the new style hubs will work on the older axle). Then you must weld on new brackets as the drum brake backing plate mount is not even close to the pattern used on disc's. The next hurdle is how close the caliper will be to the springs. The new style axle is wider and I believe the springs are closet together to make room for the calipers. Then you have to make brake lines and parking brake cables. I'm sure it's doable, but I havent seen it done yet.
Now the 6 lug disc brake swap has been done many times and isnt that hard.
