Hello, i am new to diesel engines. I just got a 98 gmc k2500 6.5 with 250k and it runs really good at the moment, loud though lol. I am not a mechanic but i do all my own maintenance work on my cars. I want to learn everything there is about this enigne as I have heard mixed reviews so I found a video on youtube on how to bomb proof the engine.

Post a link to the youtube video, IIRC someone posted it before and some of the advise in it was questionable, it may even be a different one.

In that video the guy has some good points, but at the same time does some thing I would (and many others) advise against. The big one is "get the PMD completely out of the engine bay mounted to a heat sink". Also he talks about the vacuum pump system as if it was terrible, IMO its a good system and better than a static WG spring. But in my next breath Im saying I will soon have a Manual WG set up on the site due to popular demand. I bet I get a call every couple days asking for them.
Anyway welcome, you will/can learn all you want from this forum.

same here. i'm still learning too. great people and advice here.
