Hello to all. My name is Tony. I am a diesel mechanic. But for Cummins. I came to this site to learn as much as I can about the Chevy 6.5td. I was rebuilding a 4l80e trans for a military. After I got it rebuilt I put it back in the truck. And called the guys wife to come get it. Long story short found out this guy was more than a veteran. He was a disable Iraq war combat veteran that can't work. Took him 6 months to save up the money to pay to get the trans rebuilt. After hearing the truck start up I could hear some problems. I told the wife that I heard some problems with the truck and we will have to find out what's wrong. I found a few problems wrong. I'll start different threads for them problems. But I'm gonna pretty much rebuilding the whole truck for him for free to give back to him for his service. That's why I came here to learn as much possible and what mods to give him and stay away from.

I must say it speaks volumes about you wanting to help out a veteran. You might not expect anything back for it, but you will be rewarded one day when you least expect it.
 
im not expecting anything back for it. He is 27 years old he has 2 kids and a wife and she cant work because she has to take care of him. I have been going through the truck so far I have found I believe to be a bad IP. Truck bucks when you drive it but when you give it some gas it stops. The turbo is stuck closed. Truck has really bad blow by. 6 of the 8 injectors were bad. I have a company that is donating a paint job and body work and tinting the windows. All that they asked is for the name to be put on one of the windows.

Start one and list all the issues as they can be interrelated. Also need the year.

Good for you Tony, welcome to TTS.

A 4" exh. with gauges (exh. temp, boost, trans temp & fuel press) are good initial mods.
