So from what google said, I may be able to buy a truck here. So, this is what I am looking for. M1007 or 09 (the Surburban or Blazer) that runs and drives of course since I know nothing of trucks and dont have the knowledge to work on one yet. I want the normal ver (the mil surp one) 24v battery system, 4x4, front brush guard, ya know the normal one lol. Now money is not a strong point for me however I see them selling for less then $4k quite a lot in the shape I am looking for so I am not really willing to pay more then $5k for one. Not that I can currently afford it. Now I am in the D/FW area in Texas and Texans hold onto these things like crazy so I know local is somewhat out of the question. It is, in a nutshell, going to be turned into a BOV. Better prepared and nothing happen then to not have it and something happens.

Go to the source of government auctions. Tools to search Craigslist *everywhere* like searchtempest would be the 2nd option. Just note that people have a little $$ for things like this now and the scarcity and price have changed since you noted them for the low prices. Have you considered the surplus Gov't 1 1/4 ton pickups (add camper) to also do the BOV job?

Note they come without AC...

You can always find one with a bad engine for a lot of money. And that's the other thing pushing prices up: you can make more parting it out.
