I never ad to do any bulb replacement for the heater controls.
I think that if I ever did, I would be inclined to see if I could find some LEDs to go back in with though.
Please post how to go about it.

Seems no one here has. I know Hummers used the pickup controls, but not same exact years crossover.
Maybe call Leroy to see if he sells them and knows.
Maybe try on hummernetworkforums.com but definitely you need to take a picture of the control head. Also- Dave that owns Bluehummer. com sells led for every hummer gauge and light I know of. Maybe he would sell them for it and have the know how.

Burnt out bulbs are common on these years. Regardless you may be able take it apart and re-solder new bulbs on yourself OR hire a local speedometer repair outfit to relamp it for you.
LMC Truck has solved this problem since I attempted this! "Don't risk breaking the unit when you can just cut the knobs off and replace them with new ones after the repair." I was going to say: Your odds are bad if it has the sliders for dual zone as the knobs on the sliders have to come off. They usually FUBAR the sliding resistor unit on the board while pulling the knobs off. I attempted this on my 2005 with the dual zone sliders and failed badly. The colered lamp covers also don't come off easy or in one piece. GM bean counters couldn't be bothered to go LED, no, use the cheapest 2000 hour bulb they could get: 100,000 miles is ~2000 hours at 50MPH. And now run the lamps 100% of the time day or night... The 88-89 units would last near or over 200K on HVAC/gauge lamps.
Do all the bulbs otherwise you are doing it 2x because another bulb blows 10 seconds after you fix the first bad one... LED's stick out like a sore D**k if all the other lights are left unchanged. You likely have burnt out bulbs in the gauge cluster as well. So convert them all to LED at once or replace all the cluster bulbs while you are at it: EVERY SINGLE BULB! They are at the end of their life.
